My Background & Interests

I grew up in Orange County, CA and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. I attended High School in Villa Park and Carpinteria, where I ran cross country and track: the 880 (1:56), mile (4:50), 2-mile (10:28) and 3-mile (15:48).

I graduated from USC's Entrepreneur Program, and spent nearly 25 years in the banking industry. I've held officer positions with BofA, Wells Fargo, Bank of Boston, Bank of Hawaii and Pacific Century Bank (now U.S. Bank).

I started IdeaBridge in 1999 and when I am not meeting with clients or developing program materials, I enjoy training and competing in Triathlons and Ultra-Endurance events. I have competed in triathlons and ultra-endurance events all over the world, including the Moroccan Sahara Desert in northwest Africa, the Canadian Rockies, Hawaii and events around the US. I wrote a book called "Iron Ambition" which chronicles my journey to Ironman athlete while running a business.

I have an 18-year old son who plays lacrosse at Servite High School in Anaheim; Connor earned his Eagle Scout in 2010. He spends his vacations and summers surfing on the central coast of California.

For over a decade, I was an active car buff, principally German cars, and have restored and shown Porsche 356Cs.

I have lived in both Hawaii and Singapore for extended periods and currently live on the central Coast of California.

My interests outside of business: residential real estate architecture, avocado ranching, ultra endurance challenges, dogs (principally terriers), contemporary beach houses, product design, cigars from the Vuelte Abajo district of Pinar del Río, advertising, cycling, Vespas, watches, collecting unique espresso cups, home improvement projects, wine, hand-crafted cocktails with muddled basil-cucumber-lime, staying fit and active, cooking bouillabaisse (a Mediterranean seafood stew) and time management tips/programs so that I can spend time with all these interests!
